Historic Steam Train with Disney Cars

This real steam engine has recently been refreshed and will be towing the original train cars that Walt Disney built and ran around the Disneyland Park when it first opened in 1955. Guests will ride inside these original cars as they travel the Ranch. The cars are enclosed, but please dress warmly as we may be riding with the windows down.

Train Cab Rides

A vintage steam train decorated with string lights at night, emitting steam as it stands on a track.
A small yellow and red locomotive with 'Pacific Coast Railroad Santa Margarita Ranch No. 7' written on it, parked on tracks in front of a weathered red and white barn with a rusted roof.

Have you ever wanted to ride in the cab of a steam locomotive? Here’s your chance! Paid cab rides will be offered giving you a behind-the-scenes experience and opportunity to get a close up look at a working steam locomotive.  Closed toe shoes and long pants required. Children must be accompanied by an adult and meet these standards.
Very limited tickets available for this opportunity:
$100/person for steam cab rides
$80/person for diesel cab rides

Historic Train with Open Air Cars

A real steam engine will lead a vintage diesel engine pulling a series of “open cars” on this open-air railroad experience. This train will offer open sides with overhead coverage so any rain should be minimal, but you will be outside and have extremely great views of all the displays. Bundle-up and enjoy an outdoor ride through the Ranch.

Caboose Rides

A vintage red wooden railroad car with a small upper windowed structure on top, situated on train tracks outside with a rustic building and cloudy sky in the background.
Small room with green wooden walls, a small window, a framed mattress, a door, and a vintage oil lamp on the wall.

Our vintage caboose is the real deal and something so fun to take a ride on; however, it is not the best experience for seeing the Christmas displays along the track. For 2025 we have created a special low-priced ticket that is limited to only 12 people in the caboose, which should allow for groups of 2-4 to share a small window where riders can enjoy limited views of the fun displays. If you want to enjoy Christmas at the Ranch in the most affordable way possible, this is your ticket at only $15/person.

No food or drink will be allowed on the trains.
